OBIEE famous error :)

In the begining, I want to apologize to myself first , yes because I didn't success to post anything in this blog since last year :(.

Okay this was the bad news, so how about the good ones :), Ohh yes I'm making a new post right now, it's amazing.

Okay in this post, I will talk about OBIEE and its famous error which get a lot of folks nervous hhh, and i saw some making new installation of OBIEE due to this error.


"Windows could not start the Oracle BI Presentation Server on Local Computer" if you had ever been shocked by this error, this is the solution:

1.Go to %\OracleBIData\web\log directory and check the sawlog0.log file(for example if you install OBIEE in your C hard drive go to C\OracleBIData\web\log.

2.if you find in the log file something like:

saw.sqlNodeCacheMgr.loadCatalog

Invalid item \\?\C:\OracleBIData\web\catalog\samplesales\root\system\mktgcache\HostName\sawguidstate.atr.

That's mean you have the file C:\OracleBIData\web\catalog\samplesales\root\system\mktgcache\HostName\sawguidstate.atr. corrupted.(it may be another file, only check your log file and you will know)

3.To resolve the problem rename the folder catalog in C:\OracleBIData\web\ for example to catalog2 and restart OC4j, Oracle BI server and Oracle BI Presentation Server,the presentation server will start and create a new catalog folder, in this new catalog folder search the file sawguidstate.atr and replace the older one in the older catalog folder (catalog2 here fro example).

4.rename your catalog2 to catalog and restart OC4j, Oracle BI server and Oracle BI Presentation Server.

5.that's all, I hope this will help :)
